Thanks for defending Jeff. He is truly Hobbs' favorite son and we are proud to have him! I expect high school kids to do stupid things in the name of rivalary, but to see a grown-up in Clovis handing out USA flags for "grown-ups" to wave was awful. Not only that but someone in Clovis got the bright idea to blar the Bruce Springsteen song "Born in the USA" over the gym's speaker system, before the game and at the end. Worst display of sportsmanship I've ever seen!

I'm in the same boat as Mrs. Medrano - torn between two teams!
I have lived in Hobbs since the age of 5 but moved to Clovis about 11 or 12 years ago. I played basketball, volleyball, and softball for the Lady Eagles and we always had a strong rivalry with Clovis. Clovis was THE TEAM to beat in district play, especially in basketball (we never did beat them!) I always knew about this rivalry, but I never realized how ugly it can get because I was on the floor playing and not in the stands. This last Friday night, I attended the Lady Wildcat/Lady Eagle game and I think that I can truly say that unless my daughter is playing on an athletic team, I will probably never attend another game here, especially if it is between these two teams. I am appalled at the lack of sportsmanship displayed at these events!
