Rainbow connection

I saw something I’d never seen before late Sunday afternoon. At least if I’ve ever seen it, I don’t remember seeing it.
I saw two rainbows side by side — one with a layer of green on the inside; one with a layer of green on the outside.
OK, I didn’t really notice the detail on my own, but our neighbor Ruby pointed it out and said it was weird. I always agree with her.
Can anyone explain this? (The part about the rainbow. I already know why I always agree with Ruby.)

You should have whipped out your new camera phone!
I’ve seen this several times. It’s not really “weird”, it just isn’t easily seen except when the sky is really bright as the rainbow forms. Even during dimmer rainbows, if you look hard enough you can usually see the second, inverted, rainbow outside the brighter one. The inversion of colors in the outer rainbow is due to the nature of light being refracted. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow
